Learn to think for yourself

When we are children, we learn primarily through others. The world views, ideas, opinions and beliefs of our parents and other adult family members with that we live together almost become ours, in a process necessary for the development of the brain of the boy. Little by little, and naturally as we grow, we begin to question all the knowledge we have received and to have our own ideas and beliefs about certain aspects of life. This is a habit that we must cultivate, as it will help us, as adults, to think for ourselves.

Challenge acquired beliefs.

To think for oneself is to have our own ideas, beliefs and opinions and, in this way, to be able to design and live our life according to ourselves and our criteria, and not let ourselves be carried away by fashions or pressures from the rest.

Although this does not imply that we do not accept opinions and beliefs of others when we make them our own, we will always be the ones who will govern our lives.

To achieve this, it is important to ask ourselves questions and challenge received beliefs until then, to keep the ones that help us and discard the harmful ones. Try to answer your own questions or find the answers yourself, without forgetting that, because something that appears in a book or on the Internet does not have to be true, and you have the right to question them equally.

Get out of your comfort zone.

It is also important that we try to get out of our comfort zone, for which it may be necessary that we stop trying to please others or that we disagree with the opinions of others. Remember that this must be done with respect, since the other has the right to think for himself like you, without trying to impose your criteria or let the other do it.
