The general theory of systems in companies

The general theory of systems is a very influential theory in the field of engineering, this being one of the main focuses of study by engineers. But what is actually general systems theory is a very difficult answer to express directly, since it is a young theory that has only been discussed since the twentieth century despite the fact that Greek philosophers had already given notions of the theme.

In general, the general theory of systems tries to explain the dynamics of the companies and to make it clear that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts, analogously to this example we have the human body which is directed by the brain. The brains within a company are senior executives and management. When the brain is bad or disoriented, the entire human body becomes disoriented, it has no reason to exist. But the brain is not the most important part of this system since we have a lot of others subsystems such as the respiratory system, the lymphatic system, etc. that are just as important as brain. If one of these subsystems fails, the whole body suffers from this. Something similar happens in companies. Another important concept in systems theory is that it has an input and an output. The input enters what experts call a black box, in which all inputs are processed to end in an output. This output can be the input for another black box and so on. This so-called black box corresponds to all the processes that intervene with each other to generate the exit process.

This theory that at first glance seems easy to understand many do not apply. Today we can easily find companies that work with all their departments isolated, who do not have a communication system that interrelates them, nor do they fight for a common benefit. This obviously produces inefficient and ineffective companies often unable to react quickly to changes in the environment.
