Why do we leave things by halves?

Surely many times you have found yourself in a similar situation: you start an activity or a project with all the illusion, putting all your energy, your time and your resources into it, especially if you have already tried before. We are convinced that yes, this time we are going to achieve it and that this time it will be the good one and we will achieve it.

However, as time goes by, we get deflated, finding excuses not to start doing the project, telling ourselves that it was not that important and setting ourselves to other tasks so that, after a weather, the project remains half, unfinished, and it becomes part of that box in which we keep all the projects that we have left halfway through throughout our lives, a box that in many cases is almost full. Why does this happen? Why does something that was essential to us stop being so?

One of the causes is usually not being able or not knowing how to maintain one's own motivation, forgetting the reasons that made this vital project for us. In that case, we will have to redesign the action plan and get to work again with more realistic and short-term goals that motivate us.

Other times it is the fear of failure that stops us. After the initial impulse, the ghost of not achieving it gets bigger, and ends up completely invading our brain. Focus on the process without thinking about the result, taking into account that, even if it is not the first time, we will achieve it.

Finally, it can also be the fear of success that stops us. In these cases, deep down, we do not feel deserving of success, so we unconsciously self-sabotage ourselves, which leads us to leave the process halfway through.
