On average, a person has an IQ of about 100 points. With this coefficient we can adequately cope with all the tasks of our daily life. If our IQ reaches 148 we have superior intelligence and if when we performed an intelligence test we exceeded 140 points we are within the group of those considered geniuses.
Is genius born or made? Psychology keeps trying to explain what conditions must be met for there to be a genius, although it is clear that genetics and the environment where the child develops play a great role. Within this research, Dr. Catharine Morris, professor of clinical psychology at Yale University, calculated the IQ of 301 famous people who lived between the years 1450 and 1850.
She chose artists, politicians, writers, thinkers, mathematicians, inventors, etc. and she determined her IQ by studying her biography.
According to these investigations, the character with the highest IQ was the German poet Goethe, which according to this study had an IQ of no less than 210 points, that is, twice that of a normal person. Isaac Newton followed, who had an IQ of 190 points.
The fourth place was occupied by the Italian scientist Galileo Galilei, who had a not inconsiderable IQ of 185. Next, with a coefficient of 180, Leonardo da Vinci appeared on the list, considered one one of the greatest geniuses in history, who shared CI with the great French philosopher René Descartes.
Next on the list is considered the greatest musical genius of all time, Mozart, with an IQ of 178.
Also featured on this list are Kant, the philosopher, with an IQ of 175, Benjamin Franklin with 160, Napoleon with 145, and George Washington with 140. Last on the list is Sir Francis Drake, the English pirate, with a quotient of 130.
