In this work it is intended analyze and show what the causes are that can trigger the dissolution of a couple, know the factors that cause people to make the decision to separate. It is important to know first of all, the concept of couple that people have, since, perhaps this is different according to geographic location, socioeconomic level, level of education, etc.

Today, we are faced with the situation that more divorces are frequently consolidated, causing a crisis in the formation of the couple (Miret, 2009). We will probably deduce some possible causes, however, it is important to carry out a whole investigation to substantiate these types of statements, starting from the formation of a family first of all through the establishment of a couple, as well as the family type developed and the type of communication that occurs within each of they.

Still there is controversy between the factors that lead to a divorce, It is not known for sure if the family of origin of these spouses influence the dissolution of the marriage, that is, if the fact of being children of divorced parents or not can affect the decision of break away. In the same way, it has been reviewed if it is the role of each of them that could trigger such a situation, or if it is socio-demographic changes such as the incursion of women into the world of work that drive this decision.

Various articles related to the issue of divorce in a couple were reviewed, however most emphasized the adaptation of the children after the marriage breakdown of their parents, or in studies of psychometric instruments that assess post-divorce adjustment in children, satisfaction or dissatisfaction in the marriage and others where the economic benefit after divorce is studied, however, the most Important to the issue of factors that lead to divorce and that focus on these are the following.

They found that the characteristics of the couple, from the type of union, the age difference between the spouses, the distribution of work wage earner and domestic among the members of the couple, the presence and age of the children, are key to explain the degree of stability of a couple. And they concluded that: in Spain, a deviation or departure from the role specialization model makes unions more unstable, both if the protagonist is the man or the woman, that is, whether it is the man who does not have a job, or if it is the woman who is working.
