What is an emotional block.

When an experience affects us emotionally a lot, our psyche activates and

In many cases, people prefer to stay in their comfort zonePerhaps choosing to remain anchored in the past, even when this is painful, because you are afraid to face the future. Some examples of experiences that can cause an emotional block are:

  • Loss of a loved one.
  • The unexpected and cold interruption of a relationship.
  • An act of violence, even verbal.

Emotional blocks, however, can also be the consequences of positive, intense, unexpected or incredible situations. It takes time for our nervous system to understand and metabolize events of that magnitude, and during that time, it files everything as if nothing had happened.

Some people, relative to their emotional matrix, are more resilient than others, which means that they have more resources available to deal with these situations. Therefore, a fact that in some can generate an emotional blockage, in others it can be taken more naturally since it does not generate the same impact.

Symptoms of an emotional block.

Unresolved emotions are put into a locked state in the deepest part of the psyche, conditioning our decisions and our way of being, which to others could be out of place and incomprehensible. The emotional block is therefore a kind of support, because it gives time to allow adaptation to a new reality; However, if emotions are not expressed, they can manifest themselves in the form of symptoms, and the most common are five:

  1. Emotions are often considered inappropriate.
  2. Being afraid of the judgment of others.
  3. Feeling anxious and frustrated
  4. Being dissatisfied.
  5. Feel guilty.

All this can generate emotional decompensation, blocked mind, suffering, conviction of being incapable, inadequate or useless. But especially the states of anxiety and social malaise. This results in an inhibition of one's own potentialities, which prevents action and fulfillment, which can manifest itself in the body in the form of:

  • Anxiety.
  • Muscle pains.
  • Tingle.
  • Insomnia.
  • Digestive disorders
  • Headache.
  • Confusion.
  • Chronic fatigue
  • Vertigo.
  • Pressure in the chest.

The resentments, the wounds that do not heal, the things that are never said, and, in general, everything that is stored and represents in some way an emotional charge, hurts us a lot. Sometimes this damage results in health problems, but other times it is expressed in problems relating to others or through frustration and lack of self-esteem. When the emotional blockage becomes a barrier, the person is not always able to overcome it, and it can become an obstacle that prevents the person from continuing on the path that they had traced; it becomes a limiting conviction and is expressed through pain, guilt, anger, fear, and sadness. The classic example is that of a person who has been abandoned by her partner and by not accepting the breakup, it is prevented from rebuilding her love life.

How to overcome an emotional block.

We cannot grow until we face emotional blocks, because they act as barriers that limit us emotionally and cognitively. You think of emotional blockage as a heavy load that you carry uphill that prevents you from walking freely: sometimes, this rock forces us to stop on the way, to reflect and recharge the batteries. Here are six practical tips to overcome emotional blocks, and you could proceed like this:

  1. The first thing you have to understand is the lock: Is it related to a previous experience or a limited belief in yourself?
